TOUR OVERVIEW

A relaxed journey through four different sides of Sri Lanka.

After arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, travel directly to Sigiriya for the first two nights. Continue to Kandy, take the scenic hill-country journey to Ella, move south to Galle, then finish with Colombo before your final airport transfer. The 10-day version below is the most relaxed; 7–9 day versions keep the same route while reducing selected free-time or extra-night elements.

What you will do

Sigiriya Lion Rock and water gardens
1

Days 1–2 — Sigiriya

Day 1 — Arrival & rest: Meet your driver at Bandaranaike International Airport and travel directly to Sigiriya. Check in, recover from the flight and keep the rest of the day easy. If you arrive early, enjoy a gentle village walk or hotel pool time rather than heavy sightseeing.

Day 2 — Cultural Triangle: Start early for Sigiriya Rock Fortress while the weather is cooler. Later, choose a relaxed cultural or nature activity around the Sigiriya–Dambulla area.

  • Sigiriya Rock Fortress
  • Sigiriya Museum
  • Pidurangala viewpoint, optional
  • Dambulla Cave Temple, optional
  • Village experience
  • Optional elephant safari nearby
Rest & pace: Two nights in Sigiriya give you time to recover after the flight and explore without rushing. Keep Day 1 mainly for arrival and rest.

Days 3–4 — Kandy

Day 3 — Sigiriya to Kandy: Travel south toward Kandy. Depending on what you did in Sigiriya, stop at Dambulla Cave Temple or another suitable attraction on the way. Arrive in Kandy, check in and enjoy a relaxed evening around the lake.

Day 4 — Kandy: Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and explore the city at an easy pace. Add the Royal Botanical Gardens or a cultural performance according to your interests.

  • Temple of the Tooth
  • Kandy Lake
  • Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya
  • Kandy viewpoint
  • Local market
  • Optional Kandyan cultural show
Rest & pace: Keep part of Day 4 free for cafés, spa time, shopping or a slow walk around Kandy Lake before the next day’s rail journey.

Days 5–6 — Ella

Day 5 — Scenic journey to Ella: Travel through Sri Lanka’s central highlands. Where train reservations and operating conditions allow, include the famous scenic rail sector toward Ella. Check in and keep the evening relaxed.

Day 6 — Ella: Visit the best-known sights around Ella. Choose a light or more active day depending on your preferred pace.

  • Nine Arches Bridge
  • Little Adam’s Peak
  • Ravana Falls
  • Ella town
  • Tea-country scenery

Days 7–8 — Galle & South Coast

Day 7 — Ella to Galle: Leave the hill country and travel toward Sri Lanka’s south coast. This is one of the longer road-transfer days, so keep sightseeing stops selective and arrive in Galle with time to settle in.

Day 8 — Galle: Explore the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, its lighthouse, ramparts and historic streets. Spend the later part of the day relaxing by the coast or visiting a nearby beach.

  • Galle Fort
  • Galle Lighthouse
  • Fort ramparts
  • Dutch-era streets
  • Unawatuna or nearby beach
  • Sunset and seafood dinner
Rest & pace: Day 7 is mainly a transfer day. Day 8 includes sightseeing plus a free half-day so the coastal part of the tour still feels relaxing.

Days 9–10 — Colombo & Departure

Day 9 — Galle to Colombo: Travel north along the west coast to Colombo. After check-in, enjoy a light city tour, shopping or a final Sri Lankan dinner depending on arrival time.

Day 10 — Bandaranaike Airport: Keep the schedule simple and transfer from Colombo to Bandaranaike International Airport according to your flight time. For late departures, optional Colombo sightseeing can be arranged before the airport transfer.

  • Galle Face Green
  • Gangaramaya Temple
  • Independence Square
  • Colombo Fort area
  • Optional Pettah Market
  • Final airport transfer
Rest & pace: The final night in Colombo makes the departure easier and avoids a long same-day transfer from Galle to the airport.
7–10 DAY FLEXIBILITY

How to extend the tour

The 10-day version above gives the most comfortable pacing. A 7–9 day version keeps the same route but shortens selected stays or free-time periods instead of changing the overall journey direction.

7 Days

Compact version: reduce selected second nights and keep only the main highlights at each stop.

8–9 Days

Balanced version: retain more rest time in Sigiriya, Ella or Galle while keeping the same Airport → Sigiriya → Kandy → Ella → Galle → Colombo route.

10 Days

Recommended relaxed version: two nights each in Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and Galle, followed by Colombo and the final airport transfer.
